Meet Sunnie

Greetings from the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont

Self-taught in soft sculpture and polymer clay sculpture, I enjoy creating one-of-a-kind original Santas, Elves, Witches, Pumpkin People and a host of other whimsical Christmas and Halloween folk art collectibles.

I work in an attic studio in our little white farmhouse down a country road in Vermont...an ideal place to live for a Santa-maker!

I am an artist member of Vermont Hand Crafters and I am expanding my folk art in the creation of original designs in hand hooked wool rugs.

My Santas and other figures are built on a wood-and-wire armature which is padded and dressed from the inside out. Carefully chosen materials and accessories complete each costume.

I do all of the creating myself although my husband (a gifted wood carver)carves pipes, canes and other items as needed. Each character is numbered, signed and dated with a special tag.

My hooked rugs are designed from my imagination with inspiration from old rugs as well as frakturs, antique painted furniture and folk art from around the world. I also use images from my own life here in rural Vermont and memory pictures of home and family.
My rug patterns and other rug delights will be sold on my Old Crow Farm website opening soon.

My goal is to take simple materials and use just enough creative manipulation to bring the rug design or whimsical character "to life". Each one is a unique creation...one that brings great joy to me as I make it...and one that brings smiles or pleasant memories to those who view it.

Thank you for your interest in all my folk art, and I appreciate your wonderful comments and encouragement! Enjoy, Sunnie
